For the Lover of Coorie

Hebridean boutique knitwear company, the Herring Girl Collection, was such a special maker to us in 2022.

Their work is directly linked to the band of formidable women who were known as Herring Girls and who left their Hebridean homes for several months every year to follow the herring fishing around the British coast. They spent many gruelling hours a day gutting, curing and packing the fish for market.  Knitting was often their pastime when they weren’t working with many of the garments sent home to their families.

The Herring Girl Collection has grown since its creation in October 2019 and now has knitters of all ages hand producing unique garments for customers all over the world. They have launched their first ever Christmas campaign highlighting the age old skills it strives to keep alive.

Help to keep their amazing story alive and bring a bit of Hebridean heritage home.

For the Gin Lover

A small island off the far north-western coast of Scotland, the Isle of Harris is home to a community of less than 2,000 people. The Isle of Harris Distillery was founded to provide a source of local, social and economic growth, as well as a source of pride, expressed through the making of exemplary spirits.

The Isle of Harris Distillery is a whisky distillery that also makes gin. As a newly established distillery, ‘The Hearach’ single malt whisky is still maturing on the island. In the meantime, we can enjoy the award-winning Isle of Harris Gin, the inclusion of Sugar Kelp seaweed, hand-harvested sustainably by their diver Lewis Mackenzie from local sea-lochs, is the key botanical to express the island’s unique maritime nature.

Read more about the Isle of Harris Distillery, order from the UK online shop or select your country on the homepage for more information on where to find your bottle of Isle of Harris Gin.

For the Home Interiors Lover

We were delighted to feature one of Scotland’s most successful family run businesses, the Isle of Skye Candle Company, in our April WeeBox this year.

Started in a grass roofed bothy in 2006 by Raghnall and James Robertson, the Isle of Skye Candle Company was created to offer an alternative to paraffin and non-natural candles, whilst still offering beautifully scented candles. This turned out to be very successful and now their candles, all natural and inspired by the natural landscape of Skye, are a treat for all who receive them.

Discover their collections, all handmade on the Isle of Skye here.
